It was a dream of mine to go snorkeling or diving in the beautiful ocean and see the reef and corals. To watch the beautiful fishes that lived there and they would continue on their path, ignoring my presence and the waves would keep me calm. What a dream!
Call me a dreamer as I have many dreams, but this one I can't help. I love the ocean/river and overall nature. I am a Pisces - A fish. a land fish to be exact :) as I stay close to the shore except for when I go out on the boat. Glass bottom boats are great, love them but there is something that was urging me to get in the water out in the deep and swim with the fishes. In March 2016 I decided that I had to go snorkeling as part of my birthday celebration so we made plans with Captain Richie, our friend who operates a boat that leaves from Doctors Cave Beach in Montego Bay.
The boat ride was great. I changed into my swim-wear onboard and as I fixed my hair I began to rethink my dream. " Seeing it in my dream and doing it in real life was not the same, what the heck am I doing?" My thoughts echoed aloud disturbing my happy thoughts that i had all morning. I took deep breath, put on a brave face and headed back to the deck to join Garfield.

"Its time to swim with the sharks!" Captain Richie announced, or so I HEARD. My chest was beating at 1000mph and I felt like heading back to shore. It was time to get geared up and Captain Richie ensured I had fitting flippers and diving mask. I patiently waited on the other persons (tourists & crew) to jump in hoping my turn will never come.
I took two steps down, stopped and thought about how this could be my last time out in the big blue (ocean) and how a shark will certainly eat me within seconds of getting in. I was reassured that i will have a guide. Garfield promised to hold my hand and Captain Richie promised to jump in as soon as he is finished on board.
"Something moved OH MY LORD THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE WATER!" I screamed and darted up the staircase into Garfield's arms. By now the rest of the tourist and crew members were in stitches. I no longer wanted to go as I really saw something, a shadow perhaps, but Something was out there. I was convinced to go in being cheered on by persons already in the water. Deep breaths and I took three steps down and jumped in holding on to a rope for dear life. Garfield joined me, held my hand for 1hour 30minutes..

Fear, it keeps us away from what we truly want to experience, but with the right persons encouraging you, you can overcome it! As we approach the new year ensure you are equipped with the following:-
1. A dream, your own dream. It helps to guide you on your path
2. Good friends and family. These are persons who understand your dream and path. They will help you along the path, even making sacrifices just to ensure that your dreams become a reality. If your friends do not have a dream you need new friends.
3. Find your purpose. All around you may keep hearing that you need to find your purpose and you many be wondering how to do that. This is how I discovered mine. I followed my mind and my thoughts. First I made scribbles/posts then i realized my thoughts kept flowing in a "purposeful way" then i realized I was a writer at heart. Your purpose may not be to do one thing, it can be many things. Finding what youre good at and what makes you light hearted while doing it = your purpose.
Thank you for your support over the year and we look forward to bringing you more blogs, videos and Photographs from across Jamaica. Wishing you and your family a Happy and prosperous New Year!
Much love.
Take a look at my first snorkeling experience.

Walk good
